Create a lie to suit yourself
Derogatory terms to describe persons with BPD such as “difficult,” “dangerous,” “treatment resistant,” “manipulative,” “demanding,” and “attention seeking” are often used.
This is very unhelpful! To improve the management and care outcomes for these service users, there is general consensus on the need for more training for mental health professionals.
A serious lack of training does not help the situation and it tends to become a circular. Patients are seen as difficult, treated badly by staff and so their behaviour deteriorates etc..on and on.
“People with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and their carers/families continue to experience structural stigma when accessing health services. Structural stigma involves societal-level conditions, cultural norms, and organizational policies that inhibit the opportunities, resources, and wellbeing of people living with attributes that are the object of stigma.“
Spiralling circle forms where we all just go roun and round or we give up.
