Bullied

By Social Worker, foster mother and guardian as litem

In to giving my baby away.

Somehow I know I am not alone. In fact I have spoken to many mentally ill friends and colleagues who have battled for years to keep their children despite no evidence to suggest that they were not good, loving parents.

“Historically, there has been stigma and prejudice associated with parenting whilst living with a mental health challenge or personality difficulty. In the past, individuals who had or had been diagnosed with problems with their mental health were at unjustified risk of having their children taken from them. However, from the very beginning of disability rights legislation in the 1990s, mental health conditions have been recognised as disabilities. Therefore, people with mental health conditions have gained the right to protection from discrimination and parents with mental health conditions have gained the entitlement to support from Adult Services in their parenting role. Therefore, the courts should never allow a Social Worker to remove a child from a parent simply because the parent has mental health difficulties.”https://childprotectionresource.online/reporting-post-natal-depression/

Despite doctors and health visitors describing my daughter as thriving, I faced constant threats and ludicrous criticisms such as:-

“Her nappy was not changed within 5 minutes of soiling”

“Your stairs are grubby!”

Eventually you are so ground down you believe you are not adequate and make decisions that with thought and support you would never have otherwise made and the regret is a lifetime of pain and regret.

We all think forced adoption is a thing of the past. Not if you have a mental illness!

I have not published any comments sent to me as I have found all to be absolutley obscene and so I refuse to give these ignorant people a voice.

Send me something intelligent and I will be happy to print it!
