DBT Restart

DBT stopped half way through due to Covid but I have just started another course. I am in my 4 week introduction and then I start weekly therapy and group.

It feels like ages since it all stopped and I guess alot of people had therapy halted due to covid!

It did feel as though mental health was placed very low down the list of health priorities and I know many people who felt completely abandoned.

Are people still getting help?

Coronavirus has had an impact on the amount of people using publicly funded mental health service.

This is part of a broader trend across the whole of the NHS.

On an average month, the NHS talking therapies service can expect to receive about 150,000 referrals for treatment of common mental health problems such as depression or anxiety.

However, this dropped as low as 60,000 in April 2020.

This slowly returned back to normal over the summer, but it is unclear how the second and third lockdowns may have impacted it.

I have really had to fight to get help again. I think my age is against me. The focus seems to be on the young. I never hear about adult mental health support anymore, just young people which is understanderdable. Yet we seem to have been bypassed completely.
